wedding
we finally visited the castle in september 2011 and i absolutely fell in love. i knew it was what i wanted anyway, just from seeing it in pictures, but being there it just felt right. initially while i was there, i wanted to have the whole wedding there, reception and all. but the prices most certainly put paid to that! and on reflection after thinking about it for a few days – it really wasnt me. very formally laid out and such, and they werent really willing to tweak things to be, well, me!
but it is absolutely stunning, and these steps alone lend themselves to such beautiful photo opportunities!
so we booked the castle for the ceremony only, and we will be getting married on 9/11/12 (10/11/12 would have been so cool, but double the price as it would be saturday!!)
so, plan c (as plan a was the ramada) is now the mostly likely and is the chimney corner hotel

it has enough hotel rooms for all my guests, and is bending over backwards to accommodate my buffet choices and general craziness. its really cute inside, kinda like an oldy worldy pub. much more informal and much more to my taste. as much as i adore the castle, and getting married there is kinda off the wall, the formality of the sit down dinner and the fine china was just far too much for me. the chimney corner is literally a stones throw from the castle, so im going to book minibus to take the english folk, and whatever irish folk, need a lift inbetween the two. then if people have booked rooms there, they can filter off in the evening whenever they like without having to make their excuses.
i really cant wait

I’m so jealous of that staircase…..that is absolutely perfect!
